In her early years, surrounded by artistic brilliance, Shyama Ruffell developed an infatuation for the dynamic world of colours and textures. Inspired by her father's artistic process and nurtured by the idyllic Sussex countryside, her debut exhibition was held at just seven years old on Bayswater Road. The intricate patterns and natural textures of the South Downs stirred her fondness for design, propelling her to focus on print and surface pattern in her textile design studies.

Her career progressed from an assistant designer role to a freelancing textile designer, adding her creative spark to esteemed firms such as Sandersons, Oasis, Selfridges, and Hennes. Lecturing at the London College Of Fashion and Northbrook Art College further displayed her proficiency in design. Concurrently, Shyama thrived as a fine artist, showcasing her art at numerous exhibitions and art fairs.

In her unique garden studio, exotic plant forms and the vibrant jungle fuel Shyama's artistry. Within this tropical blend, she uncovers patterns, a unifying theme in her work, as entrancing as a butterfly's wing designs or countless botanical nuances.
