About this artwork

Flowers in a Vase' is a beautiful painting that showcases a wide range of flowers, from subtle roses to radiant white narcissi and vibrant purple cyclamen. The brilliant artist, Ambrosius Bosschaert, set the floral arrangement against a dark backdrop to emphasise their forms, hues, and textures. Some of these flowers, like the roses and narcissi, weren't in full bloom during the time of painting. Therefore, it's believed that Bosschaert probably created watercolour sketches of these flowers as references for his masterpiece. This reproduction is colour corrected to match the original painting and is approved by the National Gallery. Every purchase you make contributes to the museum's ongoing work.

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

UK - £3.95 for unframed items by 1st Class Packetpost
UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.

Very large prints are always sent by express service.

About the artist

Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder was a Dutch Golden Age painter who specialised in still life paintings of flowers. He was born in Antwerp in 1573 and moved to Middelburg in the Netherlands in 1593. He was a member of the Bosschaert family of still life painters, and his sons Ambrosius the Younger and Johannes Bosschaert also became painters.
