About this artwork

Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a well known architect, designer, and artist from Scotland who played a crucial role in the Modern Style, a unique Art Nouveau movement in the United Kingdom. The print we're discussing showcases Mackintosh’s creative blueprint for the music room, a component of his 'House for an Art Lover'. He came up with this innovative design for an architectural contest sponsored by a magazine. Despite Mackintosh’s initial design being rejected from the competition, it was later published and this immensely contributed to his recognition as a trailblazer of modern design principles. In a remarkable tribute, six decades after he died, a group of architects constructed the House for An Art Lover in Glasgow, based on his original plans in 1990.

UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.

Very large prints are always sent by express service.

About the artist

Charles Rennie Mackintosh (7 June 1868 – 10 December 1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, water colourist and artist. He was a leading figure in the Art Nouveau movement and a major influence on European design. Mackintosh was born in Glasgow and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He was a pioneer of modernism and his work was inspired by Japanese art and the natural forms of Scotland. He was a successful architect and designer, creating iconic buildings and furniture. He was also a talented watercolourist and his works are held in many public collections.
