About this artwork

So, what we have here is a excellent print, right? It's inspired by a hand-touched, printed chromolithograph showing off a scene from the Alton Towers Gardens. It used to be the home of the Late Right Honourable Earl of Shrewsbury. This piece was part of The Gardens of England, a series by Edward Aveno Brooke, who was around from 1821 to 1910. The original was brought to life in London by T. McLean somewhere between 1856 and 1857. It's got the number 14 lightly penciled on it.

About the artist

Brooke, a landscape painter born in 1821, seemingly focused mainly on depicting gardens in his artwork. His exhibited pieces at different galleries, including the Royal Academy from 1844 to 1864, showcased traditional rural scenes, farms, riverscapes, and fishing themes. Passing away at the age of nearly 90, Brooke's died in Battersea in 1910.
