About the artist
Jean Guichard, a well known French photographer, was born in Paris on the 28th of April, 1952. He's best known for his breathtaking lighthouse photographs. His world-famous series, "La Jument", consists of seven images taken in 1989, showcasing the French lighthouse by the same name amidst a storm. The fascinating image depicts the lighthouse keeper, who mistook Guichard for a rescue helicopter, peering out of an open door just as a massive wave threatens to consume the lighthouse.
