About this artwork
John Nash was a highly notable British architect during the Regency and Georgian periods. In 1815, he was the brain behind the design of the Royal Pavilion, which served as the previous royal dwelling for Prince George of Wales, situated in Brighton, England. This illustration showcases a cutaway of Nash's initial design which drew inspiration from Indian-style architecture. The full building, its structure, and intricate internal decor were fully finished by 1823.
