About this artwork

In 1841, the well known British painter William Turner created the work 'Dawn after the Wreck.' Interestingly, the name of the painting was actually given by John Ruskin, a notable Victorian art critic. Despite its name, the artwork doesn't actually show the aftermath of a shipwreck. Instead, it cleverly incorporates several features like vivid crimson clouds and a solitary, howling dog to evoke a feeling of despair. This particular print is carefully colour-matched to the original and has been officially endorsed by the Courtauld Gallery. Plus, every purchase helps support the ongoing operations of the Courtauld.
