About this artwork

Maurice Sendak was a well known American children's book author and illustrator. He's most famous for his book 'Where the Wild Things Are', which was first released in 1963. The narrative of the book revolves around a little boy named Max who, after donning a wolf outfit, is sent to bed without dinner. Then, his bedroom changes into a jungle-like setting. Max embarks on a journey to an island populated by fabled creatures where he is hailed as king of the 'Wild Things'.
