About this artwork

Pierre-Auguste Renoir, a prominent French artist from the late 1800s, played a crucial role in shaping the Impressionist style. He painted 'Two Sisters (On The Terrace)' in 1881, showcasing two youthful girls at the Maison Fournaise. This establishment was a restaurant situated on an island in the River Seine in Chatou, a stone's throw away from Paris. The painting features Jeanne Darlot, the older of the two sisters, who later found success as an actress.
