About this artwork

William Daniell, a British artist famed for his landscape and nautical art, journeyed across India with his uncle, Thomas Daniell. During his travels throughout Eastern India, he created this painting showing an elephant adorned with a caparison. This fabric serves as both a form of protection and embellishment for the animal. This print replicates the original's colours and comes with the seal of approval from Sir John Soane's Museum. Every purchase goes towards supporting the museum's operations.
