He made his movie ‘Empire’ by simply setting up his camera on a stand, and capturing footage of the iconic New York City landmark, the Empire State Building, from the break of dawn to the fall of dusk. Watching the film, according to Warhol, was like \"observing time fly by.\" This was the piece that kick-started Warhol's extensive career as a city filmmaker and photographer, a role he fulfilled so well that his name and persona have become synonymous with the city long after his death. From '76 to '86, Warhol never left his house without his camera, snapping an average of one film roll daily.
