A quick pic on my iPhone was all I needed to record every detail. I knew I had the perfect size canvas waiting for me back in my studio. The layout came to me intuitively, and I sketched it out in umber conte. The initial strokes were bold and they can still be identified in the finished piece. I kept my colour palette simple. Umber, ultramarine, chromium oxide, burnt sienna, and titanium white. As I got drawn into the intricate details of the boat, my strokes became more refined and meticulous.
