Originally from Cheshire, Steven Lenton now splits his time between his studios in Brighton and London. As a boy Steven would help out in his family's pom-pom factory during school vacations, designing new products and packaging.
After acquiring a BA and MA in Animation, Steven became a proficient animator and art director in the world of children's television. Steven's passion lies in children’s storybook creation. His illustrations grace numerous books including ‘Head Kid’ and ‘The Taylor Turbochaser’ by David Baddiel, the adapted ‘The Hundred And One Dalmatians’ by Peter Bently, and works like 'The Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam series' by Tracey Corderoy. He has also ilustrated for other authors' work such as Frank Cottrell Boyce and Steven Butler's ‘The Nothing To See Here Hotel’ series which garnered a Sainsbury’s Prize.
Frequenting literary festivals and educational institutions across the UK, Steven has also collected awards like the FCBG Best Picture Book for ‘Octopus Shocktopus’. His move into the writing of children's illustrated fiction began with the ‘Genie and Teeny’ series. In addition to his illustrations, Steven authored ‘Princess Daisy and the Dragon and the Nincompoop Knights’ and ranked 16th in the 2019 Bookseller Best-Selling Illustrator Chart.
