This method was vital for him to reproduce his images and his masterpieces reflected the era he lived in. Warhol kicked off his Death and Disaster series with well known portraits of Marilyn Monroe, created shortly after her passing. He then moved on to craft more shocking and grim images, capturing car accidents, electric chairs, race riots, and even a mobster's funeral, most of which were inspired by images from popular newspapers and magazines.
