About this artwork

This print was originally released by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London back in 1930. It's a genuine reproduction from the historic poster collection housed at the London Transport Museum. Every sale made supports the ongoing projects of the museum.

About the artist

Born in Treherbert, Wales, Charles Burton was a well known painter and educator. He received his education at the Cardiff and Royal College of Art, and then pursued a teaching career at Liverpool and Glamorgan Colleges of Art. His significant works earned him recognition at individual and group exhibitions, including a gold medal at the 1954 Royal National Eisteddfod. His pieces are showcased at Cambridge University and the Department of the Environment. Burton lived in Southport before retiring in Penarth, South Glamorgan. He was married to fellow painter, Rosemary Burton.
