About the artist

Edouard Benedictus (1878-1930), an artist and scientist, began his career during the Art Nouveau era. He embraced the emerging Art Deco style, gaining recognition for his influential article in L'Art décoratif (1912). His notable works include "Variations" (1923) and "Nouvelles variations" (1928), showcasing his talent for floral Art Deco. Benedictus collaborated with well known designers, particularly Andre Groult, creating tapestries for furniture. His vibrant rugs adorned the Grand Salon and Music Room of the impressive French Embassy at the 1925 Exhibition, featuring imaginative geometric designs with abstract floral elements.
