About this artwork

Hieronymus Bosch, an influential Dutch painter, is well known as a significant figure within the Early Netherlandish painting movement. Between the years 1490 and 1510, Bosch created 'The Garden of Earthly Delights', a fascinating triptych oil painting. Given the scarcity of information about Bosch's personal life and artistic motivations, interpretations of this painting have greatly varied. Some view it as a cautionary depiction of worldly excess and life's seductions, while others see it as a celebration of ultimate sexual pleasure. This particular print showcases the central panel of the painting, containing the lush garden scene that inspired the triptych's title.
