About this artwork

'Arnolfini Portrait,' a masterpiece from the early Dutch artist, Jan van Eyck, features a stylishly-dressed couple in a private chamber. It's believed the duo is the Italian tradesman Giovanni di Nicolao di Arnolfini and his spouse, captured in their abode in the Belgian city of Bruges. The painting is widely revered in the realm of Western art for its originality and complexity. This distinction is largely due to Van Eyck's meticulous attention to detail, especially his use of light to bring a believable representation of the room's inhabitants and the space itself. The painting's intricate iconography also adds to its intrigue. This replica has been color-matched to the original and has received the nod of approval from the National Gallery. Plus, every purchase goes towards supporting the museum's work.
