About this artwork

'Piano and Butterflies' is the perfect piece of art for any music enthusiast. It's made with love by incorporating elements from old encyclopedia entries. Each image is meticulously colored to make it vibrant and then set against the backdrop of a page from the same book. This not only gives each image its unique context but also forms a beautifully balanced composition.

About the artist

Marion McConaghie, an artist celebrated for her diverse range of artworks, channels a distinct style marked by loose sketches and strokes, refined lines, and vibrant hues. Her pieces often display a strong fondness for texture, lending energy and a touch of distortion to create intense portrayals of subjects. These subjects range from wild horses and birds to butterflies, abstract elements, seascapes, and even human figures imbued with a spectral quality.

Marion's work is heavily influenced by nature, an interest in the ageing process, and themes emphasizing freedom and motion. She utilises an array of materials and techniques to bring her creative visions to life. These include collage, acrylics, watercolours, charcoal, pencil and spray paints, digital techniques, and experimental printing. Marion, originally from the vicinity of Ireland's Causeway Coast, relocated to England to pursue her passion, earning a First Class degree in Fine Art Painting.
