About this artwork

Michelangelo, a brilliant Italian artist from the High Renaissance era, had a truly unmatched impact on the evolution of Western art. He utilised his multifaceted artistic abilities as a sculptor, painter, architect, and poet, earning him the reputation as the quintessential Renaissance man. One of his works is a print featuring his painting of the Erythraean Sibyl, a prophetess from classical antiquity known for overseeing the Apollonian oracle in the city of Erythrae. This painting is a part of Michelangelo's larger fresco on the Sistine Chapel's ceiling, a notable chapel constructed within the Vatican in Rome.
