The credit for this piece goes to a lady known as Miss Williamson. This particular artwork forms part of a collection of 35 Iris paintings, all bound together. These paintings were created for Ellen Wilmott, who lived from 1858 to 1934. It's highly possible that the Iris varieties depicted were from Wilmott's own garden in Essex, Warley Place. Warley Place was once well known for its extensive collection of plants. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair after Wilmott died.
