About this artwork

Building from his previous experiments, Robert Delaunay managed to create the impression of motion by combining geometric shapes with primary colours. In 1934, Delaunay designed 'Endless Rhythm', skillfully contrasting colour spheres with bold black outlines arranged diagonally. Just a year after creating this masterpiece, Delaunay made the discs come alive as part of his public mural. This adorned the Palais des Chemins de Fer and Palais de l'Air at the World's Fair in Paris.
