About this artwork
'The Wilton Diptych' is a petite, movable altarpiece and it's one of the few remaining paintings from the Medieval period. This diptych was specifically ordered for Richard II, who was England's king from 1377 to 1399. It merges both spiritual and worldly images to reflect his unique perception of his kingly duties. The National Gallery has color-matched and approved this print to be identical to the original. Each purchase helps support the museum's mission and operations.
