About this artwork

Andy Warhol was constantly intrigued by the concept of fame and celebrity. During the 1960s, he created an array of paintings and prints of numerous stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley. Fast-forward to the 70s and 80s, Warhol started receiving commissions from several wealthy and famous figures to paint their portraits. This habit of making commissioned portraits offered Warhol an extra chance to record the world he lived in and serves as a timeless archive of European and American culture during that period.

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

UK - £3.95 for unframed items by 1st Class Packetpost
UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.
International - Unframed by Registered AirMail or by premium express courier (select at checkout).
Very large prints are always sent by express service.

About the artist

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertisement. Warhol's art used many types of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was also a pioneer in computer-generated art using Amiga computers. Warhol's life and work were marked by controversy, his open embrace of celebrity culture, and his collaboration with many of the leading artists of his time.
