About this artwork

Andy Warhol had a steady habit of drawing, with the exception of a break from 1963 to 1972. This form of art was a constant in his life, right from his early art student days in the 1940s until his passing in 1987. His signature "blotted line" technique was a hit, particularly in commercial tasks. Warhol was so sought after for these commercial gigs, shoe illustrations especially, that he hired assistants to help with the workload. He didn't want to say no to any projects, so his assistants took on some drawings under his guidance. His mother even contributed by doing some of his lettering. This way of working set the stage for the naming of his New York City studio, the Factory.

UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.

Very large prints are always sent by express service.

About the artist

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertisement. Warhol's art used many types of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was also a pioneer in computer-generated art using Amiga computers. Warhol's life and work were marked by controversy, his open embrace of celebrity culture, and his collaboration with many of the leading artists of his time.
