About the artist
Charles Demuth was an American modernist painter who was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1883. He was a leader of the Precisionist movement, which focused on depicting industrial scenes in a precise and realistic manner. Demuth was known for his watercolour and oil paintings, as well as his lithographs and etchings. He was also a major contributor to the development of American modernism.
