About this artwork

In simple terms, this excellent artwork comes from a chromolithograph print showcasing the Alhambra Garden at Elvaston Castle, home of the distinguished Earl of Harrington. The original work is taken from The Gardens of England, a book by Edward Aveno Brooke, who lived between the years 1821 and 1910. The said book was published in London by T. McLean between 1856 and 1857. Also, it's worth noting that the number 17 is written in pencil on it.

About the artist

Brooke, a landscape painter born in 1821, seemingly focused mainly on depicting gardens in his artwork. His exhibited pieces at different galleries, including the Royal Academy from 1844 to 1864, showcased traditional rural scenes, farms, riverscapes, and fishing themes. Passing away at the age of nearly 90, Brooke's died in Battersea in 1910.
