About this artwork

Georgia O'Keeffe was a crucial figure in the rise of American modern art, well known for her sensual representations of nature. In the mid-1920s, O'Keeffe began creating semi-abstract pieces depicting natural shapes, one of which was 'White Rose with Larkspur No.2'. In this artwork, she skillfully adjusted the canvas to let the white petals of the rose subtly transition into the larkspur's blue and green hues.

About the artist

Born on November 15, 1887, and died on March 6, 1986, Georgia Totto O'Keeffe was a well known American artist. She was celebrated for her magnified depictions of flowers, the towering skyscrapers of New York, and the vast landscapes of New Mexico. Known as the "Mother of American modernism", O'Keeffe truly left her mark in the world of art.
