About this artwork

Mark Rothko, an abstract artist of Latvian Jewish heritage from America, is most recognised for his abstract expressionist art. In 1967, he created 'No.3', a grand canvas painted in hues of red and orange. This artwork is a part of his colour field painting series, which were defined by their expansive solid colour fields that resulted in uninterrupted surfaces and a level plane.
