Bob Marley, a well known Jamaican artist, performing in London on 21st June 1978.Born Robert Nesta Marley on 6th February 1945 and passing away on 11th May 1981, he was an iconic Jamaican singer, songwriter, and musician. He is often credited as one of the trailblazers of reggae music, and his career was defined by the fusion of reggae, ska, and rocksteady elements, along with his unique vocal and songwriting techniques. Marley's significant contributions to the music scene expanded the global reach of Jamaican music and established him as a worldwide pop culture icon for over a decade. Throughout his career, Marley was recognised as a symbol of the Rastafari movement, and his music often reflected deep spirituality. Moreover, he is seen as an international representation of Jamaican music, culture, and identity. Marley was also known for his bold advocacy for democratic social changes. In 1976, he survived a suspected politically-motivated assassination attempt at his home. A staunch supporter of marijuana legalization, he also voiced his support for Pan-Africanism.
