About this artwork

Paul Klee was not only an accomplished musician but also a musical theorist. This piece is just one of the many landscapes he created in the 1920s which demonstrate his deep love for music. The uneven colour patches look similar to musical notes, while the dark horizontal lines bring to mind music staves.
