About this artwork

This poster is an advertisement for trips to Kingston back in 1920, when you could still catch a tram there from places like Wimbledon. The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames was a big hit back then, with its whopping 2,500 acres of parkland, walks by the riverside and boat rides along the most scenic stretch of the Thames. Charles Paine used the ducks at Pen Ponds as the central theme of his striking design. The Underground Electric Railways Company of London published this in 1920. The print is an accurate reproduction from the historical poster collection at the London Transport Museum. Every sale supports the museum's activities.
