About this artwork

Edvard Munch, a notable Norwegian artist, is well-known for his semi-abstract and enigmatic subject matter, along with his vibrant use of color. In 1893, he created 'The Scream', a piece displaying a distressed face against a sunset backdrop, created with oil, tempera, and pastel. Munch shared that this piece was born from a walk he took where he felt an 'infinite scream passing through nature' upon witnessing the sunset transforming the clouds into a brilliant blood red.The artwork was brought to life through a hand-pulled silkscreen print, using excellent pigment inks on acid-free, mould-made fine art paper. This printing approach is a meticulous process employed in art studios where each color needs a separate screen, resulting in a deeply pigmented, paint-like finish.
