About the artist

Julia Trigg, a British artist residing in Brighton, UK, earned her MA in Graphic Design from the esteemed Royal College of Art, London in 1989. She has a penchant for collecting vintage ephemera which she beautifully transforms into vibrant, contemporary pieces of fine art prints and collages, brimming with genuine nuances. Some of her favourites materials include aged transport tickets, ham radio cards, stamps, cricket scoreboard digits, antique etchings, sheet music covers, and packaging.

For over a decade now, Julia has been enthusiastically crafting typographic ephemera prints, often incorporating antique or woodblock type along with vintage ornamentation. Usually working digitally to preserve the original ephemera, she scans them to capture their raw, unfiltered qualities and flaws. She then creates graphic, contemporary compositions that are fun and intriguing, frequently focussing on magnified, cropped details. The fascinating paper textures, vibrant colours, and fascinating fragments of text and image morph into an abstract entity, allowing one to perceive these elements in a unique, refreshing way - something Julia particularly enjoys.
