About this artwork

"The Umbrellas" is an artwork that showcases a bustle-filled street in Paris and was created by Pierre Auguste Renoir in two different time periods, with about a four-year gap between each part. Renoir went through an artistic evolution during his career, transitioning from impressionism and drawing inspiration from classical art. This painting is a perfect representation of that as it shows the mother and her two daughters on the right side painted in a more impressionist style, while Renoir used a more linear approach on the left side. This print has been accurately colour-matched to the original masterpiece and has been given the green light by the National Gallery. Each print bought helps support the museum's operations.
