About this artwork
The artwork portrays a moment from the Old Testament when the Queen of Sheba started her trip to meet King Solomon in Jerusalem. The Queen, adorning a crown and donned in pink attire, is seen stepping down the port's steps. Claude's signature style is evident in the gentle, warm sunrise light and the idealised seascape. The classic structures on both sides are a testament to the many years Claude dedicated to working in Rome.
