About this artwork

David Wedgbury, a well known British photographer, was active during the peak of the 60s. His impressive collection includes portraits of some of the finest British musicians, one of whom is David Bowie. Bowie, often referred to as the pop music chameleon, was known for his constant transformations in appearance and futuristic get-ups. He earned international fame as a pop star and made several appearances in films. In this particular portrait, Wedgbury showcases Bowie gazing off into the distance, his hair shaped in a beehive style, and sporting a wool coat that channels his androgynous look. Every purchase you make contributes to the work of the National Portrait Gallery museum.

UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery

About the artist

David Wedgbury, a British photographer, captured iconic images of the top mid-sixties British bands like The Who, The Rolling Stones, Small Faces, and The Zombies. His extensive archives also include David Bowie, Marianne Faithfull, and Eric Clapton. Wedgbury's photographs adorned numerous LP and EP covers, becoming instantly recognizable. Tragically, he unexpectedly died in 1998.
