About the artist

Born in 1952, Kathy Ramsay Carr spent her formative years in British Columbia. She refined her skills at the Bath Academy of Art in Corsham, then journeyed to Mexico. In Mexico, she took on a leadership role at the National University, heading their Design department. Kathy found her way back to the UK in the mid-eighties and dedicated herself to painting. Nowadays, she resides in Devon and has a personal studio in her garden. Her work is exhibited in cities like London, St Ives, and Cirencester.

As an artist, Kathy specialises in abstract landscapes that encapsulate a sense of tranquility and eternity. Her technique includes strategic use of light and colour to elicit feelings of solitude and reflection. Her works are composed of numerous transparent paint layers, portraying elements of nature such as water, land, and sky. Kathy draws inspiration from strolls along the coasts of Cornwall, Devon, Wales, and Scotland, as well as her experiences living in Mexico. More recently, nature walks on Dartmoor have become a significant influence.
