About the artist
After a short stint at art college, Niki took a detour, stepping away from the art world for 20 years to follow her passion for equestrianism. Abstraction and street art influences are apparent in her work since her return to the art sphere, where she has made a conspicuous presence.
Niki's abstract collages blend meticulous detailing and observation, where paint is layered, then scraped back, resulting in new textures. Her surfaces are animated with imagery and her hallmark graffiti-like words. Intriguingly, she explores not only the visible but also the invisible, including the spaces in-between and the potentiality of what could be. Her unique portraits probe the self, pairing subtle details with a sense of revelation of our deepest, hidden aspects - achieving a unique inside-out perspective in painting.
