About this artwork
Every existing hand-painted image of Wolsey seems to follow the same pattern, showing him decked out in his cardinal's attire and holding a scroll. This style likely came about back in about 1520, during Wolsey's lifetime. This piece is a match in terms of colour to the original, and it's even got the stamp of approval from the National Portrait Gallery. Plus, each time someone buys one, they're helping to support the museum's work.
