About the artist

Born in 1893 and passing away in 1962, Heather Perry, or "Herry" as she was fondly known, was an accomplished artist. She refined her skills at the prestigious London School of Arts and Crafts, with a focus on wood carving. However, her creative flair didn't stop there. Perry also had a talent for designing various items such as posters, pub signs, and playing cards.

One of the notable books she brought to life with her illustrations was "Entertaining with Elisabeth Craig," published in 1933. Between 1928 and 1937, she designed fascinating posters for the Underground Group and London Transport.

One of her most remarkable projects was a 1934 campaign for the London Underground. Perry created a series of posters that beautifully showcased the diverse activities Londoners could indulge in. Additionally, she designed posters that brought attention to significant military events, such as The Royal Tournament, RAF Displays, and Trooping the Colour.
