About this artwork

This superior grade print is inspired by a pen and ink sketch of Papaver nudicale (Iceland poppy) created by Cynthia Newsome-Taylor. Initially, she trained to be a fashion designer but later in 1945, she kicked off her freelance career in botanical illustration.

Unframed prints are usually shipped on the next working day if ordered before 2pm. Framed items can take one or two working days longer with our experts in the framing workshop.

Express services:

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

Shipping Fees:

UK - £3.95 for unframed items by 1st Class Packetpost
UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.
International - Unframed by Registered AirMail or by premium express courier (select at checkout).
Very large prints are always sent by express service.
International - Framed by premium express courier (select at checkout).

About the artist

Born in Batley, Cynthia Newsome-Taylor shifted from fashion design to book illustration during the 1940s. She wedded Peter Hunt (1917-1978), a well known garden writer, and contributed illustrations to his works: 100 Best Shrubs and 100 Best Herbaceous Plants (1963). Additionally, she collaborated with authors Arthur Hellyer and Richard Gorer on several publications. In 1967, she received a solo exhibition at the Hunt Library located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
