About this artwork
Meet The Who, in 1965, composed of Pete Townshend, Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey, and John Entwistle. British photographer David Wedgbury, who witnessed the golden era of the sixties, has an archive full of portraits of iconic British musicians, including the rock band The Who. This band, which was formed in 1964, is celebrated as one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century with over 100 million records sold worldwide. In this particular portrait, Wedgbury took a unique approach, photographing the band from an overhead angle, resulting in a fun and lively composition. He cleverly contrasted the band's vibrant sixties attire with a dull concrete floor. This print has been colour matched to the original and has received the stamp of approval from the National Portrait Gallery. Every purchase made contributes to the museum's operations.
