About this artwork

'Flowers in a Vase with Shells and Insects' is a portrayal of a multitude of flowers such as roses, tulips, lilacs, and snake heads. Given the different blooming periods of these flowers, it's probable that Balthasar van der Ast made watercolor sketches of them and referred to these while creating the painting. The print you see is color-matched to the original masterpiece and has the approval of the National Gallery. Every purchase you make contributes towards the museum's initiatives.
